Deleting your account and your data

No login, no app, no form to find. One address, and a deadline we are held to.

The Lumessa app is not released and no accounts exist yet. This route is published now because it must work for someone who has lost their device, and a route that appears on the day it is first needed has already failed that test once.

How to ask

Write to hello@getlumessa.com from the address you used, and say that you want your account and your data deleted. That is the whole requirement. You do not need to give a reason, quote a reference, or use particular words.

If you can no longer send mail from that address, write from any address and tell us which one to look for. We will ask you something only another holder of the account would know, because deleting the wrong person's learning on request would be worse than the delay.

How long it takes

We have one month from receiving your request. That is a statutory deadline under the UK GDPR, not a service target, and the clock starts when the message arrives rather than when we recognise what it is.

You will get an acknowledgement, and confirmation in writing when it is done.

What is deleted

The account, and the learning data held against it — the words you have seen, your review schedule, and anything you have written in a personal note.

Two things sit outside that and it is more honest to name them than to leave them implied. Apple and Google hold your subscription and your payment details, not us, so deleting an account does not cancel a subscription and we cannot cancel it for you — see cancelling and refunds. And our host keeps ordinary server logs of requests to this website, which are not connected to any account and are described in the privacy notice.

Inside the app

When the app is released, deletion will also be available from inside it, without writing to anyone. This page will stay regardless, because the person who most needs it is the one who cannot open the app.

The launch-notification list is a different thing

If you gave us an email address to be told when Lumessa is released, that is not an account and there is nothing behind it but the address. Every message we send carries an unsubscribe link that works on the first click, with no login and no questions. You can also write to us and we will remove it.
